Large Hadron Collider Started - Universe Remains Intact (for now)

If you're wondering where I've been, thanks for your concern! Mostly I've been relocating the Fortress of Ultimate Darkness to a larger and hopefully less ridiculous castle, and also I've been supporting myself financially by replacing pieces of paper with other pieces of paper. Also, I've been trying to figure out a way to not get killed along with the universe when they turn on the Large Hadron Collider.

By now you may have heard about CERN and their search for antimatter, the Higgs boson, etc. Maybe you heard how some people think this thing is going to make a black hole in the suburbs of Geneva, or start a chain reaction that turns every nucleus on the planet into strange matter! That would be crazy! They haven't even made that live-action Star Wars show with Boba Fett yet!

Well, they fired up the machine earlier today, and so far everything seems to be going well. But they're not going to be doing any actual colliding of particles until next month, so the human race has held off total destruction at least temporarily.

Here's some people from CERN explaining what the heck it is they are doing in an educational rap song (is there any other kind?)

I think it's safe to say that today's rappers have nothing to fear from the scientific community. Well, aside from the whole destruction of the universe thing, but I think anybody would be concerned there.
